Your Holiday Beauty Timeline: When to Schedule Treatments Before the Holidays
Your Holiday Beauty Timeline: When to Schedule Treatments Before the Holidays
Holiday plans are filling up. Here’s when to book your favorite aesthetic treatments so you’re not rushing at the last minute.
The holiday season always seems to sneak up on us. One minute it’s October, and the next you’re juggling Thanksgiving plans, holiday parties, family photos, and everything else that comes with the end of the year.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, you remember that Botox appointment you’ve been meaning to schedule.
Sound familiar?
Here’s the thing about aesthetic treatments: good timing is just as important as choosing the right treatment. Some services offer a quick refresh, while others need a few weeks (or even months) to deliver their best results.
If you’re hoping to fit in a little self-care before the holidays, we’ve put together a realistic timeline to help you plan. From Botox and dermal fillers to HydraFacials and laser treatments, here’s what to book and when.
4–6 Weeks Before: Think About Your Skin’s Bigger Picture
If you’ve been wanting to address uneven skin tone, texture, or sun damage, now is the time to start thinking about treatments that work a little deeper. Services like Moxi, BBL photofacials, and SkinPen microneedling can make a noticeable difference in your skin’s appearance, but they’re not necessarily treatments you want to squeeze in a few days before a holiday party.
Moxi Laser: For Texture, Tone, and Early Signs of Aging
If your skin is looking a little dull or you’re noticing uneven texture, Moxi might be worth exploring. This non-ablative fractional laser helps improve the appearance of skin texture, uneven tone, and early signs of sun damage. Following treatment, it’s normal to experience some redness and a rough, sandpaper-like texture as your skin goes through its renewal process. Most of that initial recovery happens within several days, but improvements can continue developing afterward.
When to book: Ideally, 3–4 weeks before your event.
BBL Photofacial: For Sun Damage and Uneven Pigmentation
Remember all that time spent outside over the summer? Your skin might still be showing signs of it. BBL, or BroadBand Light, uses light energy to target visible pigmentation, redness, and sun damage. One thing that surprises some first-time clients is that dark spots can temporarily look darker before they begin to fade. That’s a normal part of the process for certain pigmentation concerns.
When to book: Approximately 3–4 weeks before your event.
SkinPen Microneedling: For Long-Term Skin Improvements
Microneedling is one of those treatments where patience pays off. SkinPen works by creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin, encouraging your body’s natural collagen production. It’s commonly used to improve the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, and uneven texture. While initial redness usually settles within a few days, collagen production takes longer. For that reason, microneedling is better viewed as part of a longer-term skincare plan rather than a last-minute fix.
When to book: At least 3–4 weeks before an event for initial recovery, but several months ahead if you’re hoping to complete a series.
Our take: If you’re interested in laser treatments or microneedling, don’t worry about fitting everything in before December. Sometimes starting now and continuing into the new year is the better approach.
2–3 Weeks Before: Time for Your Botox, Dysport, or Jeuveau
If there’s one appointment you don’t want to leave until the last minute, it’s your wrinkle relaxer. Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau are popular for softening expression lines, including forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. But unlike a facial, you won’t walk out of your appointment seeing the final result.
How Long Does Botox Take to Work?
Botox typically begins working within several days, with full results generally developing around the two-week mark. Dysport and Jeuveau may begin showing results a little sooner for some patients, but individual responses vary. That’s why we generally recommend scheduling your wrinkle relaxer appointment at least two weeks before a holiday event. It gives the product time to take effect and allows your injector to evaluate your results if needed.
When to book: Approximately 2–3 weeks before your event.
And if you’re getting Botox for the first time? Give yourself a little extra time. Three to four weeks is a more comfortable window when you’re still learning how your body responds. The goal isn’t to look like you’ve had something done. It’s to look like yourself, just a little more refreshed.
3–4 Weeks Before: Give Your Filler Time to Settle
Dermal filler is another treatment where planning ahead makes a difference. Whether you’re considering lip filler or looking to restore volume in other areas of your face, it’s important to remember that immediate results aren’t always your final results. Some swelling, tenderness, and bruising are normal after treatment. And while the initial swelling often improves within several days, it can take longer for everything to fully settle.
Getting Lip Filler Before the Holidays?
If you have a holiday party or family photos coming up, we recommend booking your lip filler appointment approximately three to four weeks beforehand. That gives your lips time to settle so you’re not worrying about lingering swelling when it’s time to get ready.
When to book: Ideally, 3–4 weeks before your event.
What About Sculptra?
Sculptra deserves its own mention because it works differently from traditional dermal fillers. Rather than providing immediate volume in the same way as hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra stimulates your body’s natural collagen production. Results develop gradually over the following months, and multiple sessions may be recommended. So, if you’re considering Sculptra, think beyond the holiday season. It’s a great conversation to start now if you’re interested in longer-term improvements heading into the new year.
5–7 Days Before: The Perfect Time for a HydraFacial
Not every treatment needs to be planned a month in advance. Sometimes you just want your skin to look and feel its best before a special occasion. That’s where a HydraFacial comes in. HydraFacial combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and hydration to help improve the appearance of your skin without the extended downtime associated with more intensive treatments. It’s especially popular before events because it can leave skin looking smoother and more hydrated.
How Soon Before an Event Should You Get a HydraFacial?
While many people experience little to no downtime, we generally recommend scheduling your HydraFacial about five to seven days before a big event. That gives your skin a little breathing room in case you experience temporary redness or sensitivity.
When to book: Approximately 5–7 days before your event. If you’ve never had a HydraFacial before or your skin tends to be sensitive, booking a little earlier is always a good idea.
The Week Before: Don’t Overcomplicate Your Skincare
We see it happen all the time. A big event is coming up, and suddenly you’re tempted to try every new serum, exfoliant, and skincare trend you’ve saved on Instagram.
Our advice? Resist the urge.
The week before a holiday party isn’t the time to completely overhaul your skincare routine. Introducing too many active ingredients at once can lead to irritation, dryness, and sensitivity—the exact opposite of what you’re hoping to achieve.
Instead, stick with what your skin already knows and responds well to. Focus on gentle cleansing, consistent hydration, and daily SPF.
And if you’re unsure whether your current products are actually working for you, a professional skincare consultation can help take some of the guesswork out of your routine. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your skin is keep it simple.
Your Holiday Treatment Timeline, Simplified
We know December calendars fill up quickly, so here’s an easy reference for planning your appointments.

A Few Questions We Hear Around the Holidays
Is it too late to get Botox before Christmas?
Not necessarily! If you’re at least two weeks out, there’s generally still time for Botox results to develop before Christmas. If it’s your first treatment, we’d recommend giving yourself a little more time when possible.
Can I get a HydraFacial right before a holiday party?
You can schedule a HydraFacial close to an event, but we typically suggest allowing five to seven days. Even treatments with minimal downtime can occasionally cause temporary redness or sensitivity.
Is winter a good time for laser treatments?
It can be! With less time spent outdoors, fall and winter are often convenient seasons for laser treatments like Moxi and BBL. That said, sun protection is still essential before and after treatment.
Should I wait until after the holidays for microneedling?
It depends on your schedule and goals. If you have an important event just a few days away, waiting may be the better option. But if you’re looking to improve your skin over time, November can be a great month to begin a treatment plan.
